 1932 Read Lenin and Trotsky, Rejoined the League of Communists of Pierre Naville. 
   During this period he knew Louis Aragon, Andre Breton, Jacques Prevert 
   and Benjamin Peret. 

 1936 Professor of Letters
   Collaborated with Andre Breton in the review Clé.

 1941 Contributed to first issue of La Main a Plume.

 1944 First published -> which has become the definitive history.
   He had names for many of the Surrealists, The Pope was of course Andre Breton.
   Pink White Boot was Victor Brauner.
   He was known to authors such as Georges Bataille, Rene Char, Henri Michaux, 
   Claude Simon, Henry Miller.

 1947 Member of the panel which vindicated Antonin Artaud's work  
   Pour en Finir avec le Jugement de dieu together with Jean Cocteau, Paul Eluard, 
   Raymond Queneau, Jean-Louis Barrault?, Rene Clair, Georges Auric, 
   Claude Mauriac? and Rene Char.
   Edited the works of Marquis de Sade.

 1965 The History of Surrealism first published in English ->.
