 1914 - 1918 Served in the Royal Field Artillery in Egypt and Macedonia.

 1928 first one man show at Leicester Galleries.

 1933 Invited by Paul Nash to join Unit One Group.
    Joining Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth ~>, Ben Nicholson ~> and 
    Edward Wadsworth

 1938 Dreaming Head ~>.
    Worked closely with the framer Robert Sielle ~>.  

 1940 Official war Artist.

 1945  Spent time in Lamorna, Cornwall, before returning to London.

   His theatrical d├ęcor includes designs for 'Riverside Nights', 'Macbeth' and 
   'Measure for Measure' (all Old Vic); 'The Magic Flute' (Sadler's Wells Opera 
   Company); the ballet 'Facade'; and a group of films produced by Sir Alexander 
   Korda including 'The Private Life of Henry VIII', 'The Scarlet Pimpernel' and

 1966 Associate member of the Royal Academy.

 1973 d. London.
