    Worked at the  Galerie Barbazanges-Hodebert in Paris. 

  1924 Went to New York, where he began a distinguished career of 65 years as an art dealer.

  1931 Opened his own gallery in the Fuller Building at 41 East 57th Street in New York City. 
    The Pierre Matisse Gallery existed his death in 1989. 
    Matisse represented and exhibited many often for the first time. 
    He exhibited Joan Miro, Marc Chagall ->, Alberto Giacometti, Jean Dubuffet, 
    Andre Derain, Yves Tanguy, Le Corbusier ->, Paul Delvaux, Wifredo Lam, 
    Jean-Paul Riopelle ->, Balthus, Leonora Carrington, Zao Wou Ki ->, Sam Francis ->, 
    sculptors Theodore Roszak ->, Raymond Mason -> and Reg Butler ->, and 
    several other important artists, including his father Henri Matisse.
    m. Alexina Sattler (Teeny).
    Three children: Paul Matisse, a painter/inventor; Jacqueline, and Peter.

 1949 Separated; Alexina married Marcel Duchamp. 
    m. Patricia Kane Matta, ex former wife of  Roberto Matta.

 1972? Death of Patricia.

 1974? m. Countess Maria-Gaetana "Tana" Matisse, the daughter of German diplomat 
    Count Karl von Spreti.

 1989 d. August 10th. in St.Jean Cap Ferrat, France.
