1890 b. February 14th. in Tenby, Pembrokeshire English artist and writer, known as the Queen of Bohemia.
1906 - 1907 Studied at the Pelham Art School and then at the London School of Art. 1914 Moved to the Montparnasse Quarter in Paris; studies at Marie Vassilieff's -> Academy. On her first night she went to the cafe La Rotond where the man at the next table introduced himself as "Modigliani, painter and Jew". She became close friends with Amedeo Modigliani, Pablo Picasso, Sergei Diaghilev and Jean Cocteau . 1914 Models -> for Henri Gaudier-Brzeska -> Referred to by her autobiography Laughing Torso. In Montparnasse she also met her husband, the Norwegian artist Roald Kristian. Widely exhibited during World War I including at the Royal Academy in London and the Salon d'Automne in Paris. 1917 - 1918 She taught at the Westminster Technical Institute. After divorcing Kristian, she took up with another free spirit, composer E.J Moeran. 1922 Opening of Le Boeuf sur le Toit with Marie Laurencin, Marie Beerbohm, Pablo Picasso, Madame Picasso, Jean Cocteau, Moyses, Raymond Radiguet and Constantin Brancusi. 1932 Published her autobiography Laughing Torso.
