Adon Lacroix, who introduced him to the Inspirations of Les Chants de Maldoror as well as Rimbaud, and Baudelaire, Mallarme and Guillaume Apollinaire. 1915 First solo show -> of paintings and drawings at The Daniel Gallery. Begins to record his own work on camera. Founded the group Others with Alfred Kreymborg ->. 1917 One of the forces behind The Society of Independent Artists, together with Walter Arensberg. 1918 He produced his first significant photographs. Ferdinand Howard begins collecting Man Ray's work and becomes his patron. 1919 Single issue of TNT; Adolf Wolff, Adon Lacroix, Walter Arensberg, Marcel Duchamp, and Philippe Soupault. 1919 Separated from Adon whom he formally divorced in 1937 ==1920's== 1920 object ->> The Riddle of Isidore Ducasse with inspirations from Lautreamont. Meets Pablo Picasso 1923 Berenice Abbott becomes his assistant until 1926. Dudley Murphy convinces Fernand Leger to make Ballet mecanique with Man doing some of the photography. 1924 A chess game with Marcel Duchamp is filmed by Francis Picabia and Rene Clair in Entr'acte. Suzanne Duchamp. 1925 The French and American editions of 'Vogue' publish his fashion photographs. 1926 May; Films Emak Bakia -> again with Kiki then helps Marcel Duchamp with Anemic Cinema -> also with Marc Allgret?. 1927 Signs Manifesto Hands Off Love in defense of Charlie Chaplin. 1928 L'Etoile de Mer -> with Kiki; a film based on a poem by Robert Desnos. Les Mysteres du Chateau de Des a filmed at the house of Charles de Noailles, financed by Charles and Marie-Laure De Noailles. 1929 Began an affair with the Lee Miller. Together with his photography assistant and lover, he reinvented the photographic technique of solarization. Introduced to Luis Bunuel by Teriade of Cahiers d'art. Provides photos for a book by Louis Aragon together with Benjamin Peret, published in Brussels by Paul-Gustave van Hecke. Film Self Portrait with Lee, which remained in his possession until his death. Tanja Ramm models for him (See ->). Contributed to Le Surrealisme au service de la revolution. William Seabrook -> (diabolist, fetishist and recreational cannibal) See wiki -> becomes a patron. Man makes a silver choke collar for his wife Marjorie Worthington -> and photographs -> her. The Fantasies of Mr Seabrook -> with Suzy Solidor. 1932 Object of Destruction revamped as Object to be destroyed ->, incorporating Lee Miller's Eye. His Bell Jars influence Joseph Cornell 1933 Trip to Hamburg. In the summer meets up with Marcel Duchamp and Mary Reynolds in Cadaques meeting up with Salvador Dali and Gala. They later go to Barcelona. 1934 Observatory time, the lovers - a hommage to Lee Miller.
