 1921 Left for Paris.

 1928 first exhibited at the Salon des Ind├ępendants.
   Became acquainted with Jean Arp, Piet Mondrian, and Antoine Pevsner.

 1930 One of the founding members of Art Concret with Theo Van Doesburg.

 1931 Travels through Europe and the Soviet Union
   Returning to Paris he met Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, and Tristan Tzara.

 1932 First solo show at Galerie Pierre.
   Visits New York.

 1933 Meets David Gascoyne at Stanley William Haytor's Atelier.

 1934 Met Jacques Lipchitz, Joan Miro, and Ben Nicholson.

 1936 Settles in USA.

 1938 Solo exhibition at the Galerie Pierre, meeting and becoming friends with 
   Paul Eluard Roberto Matta and Yves Tanguy.

 1940 Joined the French Army. 
   Taken prisoner and sent to a camp in Pomerania and then held on a prison ship at 
   Stettin an der Oder (now Szczecin, Poland) 

 1942 Escapes. Mary Reynolds hides him at her home in Paris.
   Escapes to America.

 1943 Continued painting

 1987? Oct 27th. d. in Paris
