 1900 b.February 4th. at Neuilly-sur-Seine and grew up in Paris.
    French poet and screenwriter. 
    A member of the Rue du Chateau group along with Raymond Queneau and Marcel Duchamp.
 1920 Military service in Saint-Nicolas-de-Port, near Lunaville. 
    He meets the painter Yves Tanguy. 
    He's then sent to Turkey.

 1921 During his military service in Constantinople he meets Marcel Duhamel.

 1922 Returns to Paris; shares accomodation at 54 rue du Chateau with Marcel Duhamel 
    and Yves Tanguy. 
    Around this time he meets Pablo Picasso who becomes a lifelong friend.

 1924 Rue du Chateau becomes the meeting place for the surrealists with 
    Andre Breton and Robert Desnos.

 1925 marries Simone Dienne his childhood sweetheart. 
   Joins the Surrealists.
   Meets Pierre Brasseur and later writes directly for him.

 1925 - 1929 Prevert was associated with Robert Desnos, Yves Tanguy, 
   Louis Aragon, and Andre Breton and renewed, in their style, the tradition 
   of oral poetry that led him to a highly popular form of €œsong poems which were 
   collected in Paroles (1945; Words€).

 1927 Jan; Joined the Communist Party together with Marcel Duhamel, Paul Eluard, 
   Michel Leiris, Andre Breton, Yves Tanguy, Pierre Unik, and Louis Aragon.
   Together with Simone serves as best man and matron of honor at wedding of Yves Tanguy 
   and Jeannette Ducrocq.
   Meets Raymond Queneau.
   Signs Manifesto Hands Off Love in defense of Charlie Chaplin.

 1928 Feb; Fifth Session of Investigating Sex : Maxime Alexandre, Andre Breton, 
   Marcel Duhamel, Max Ernst, Marcel Noll, Benjamin Peret, Jacques Prevert, 
   Raymond Queneau, Georges Sadoul, Pierre Unik
   Figure. Cadavre Exquis with Andre Breton, Max Morise, Pierre Naville, 
   Benjamin Peret, Jeannette Tanguy and Yves Tanguy.
   Fall out with Andre Breton. 
   Together with Tanguy and Duhamel leaves Rue du Chateau.

 1930 Rebels against Breton signs Un Cadavre .
   Introduces Luis Bunuel to Georges Bataille.

 1932 Forms the agit-prop theatre company Groupe Octobre with his younger brother 
   Pierre Prevert, which included Jacques-Andre Boiffard and Silvia Makles.

 1933 Travels to Moscow with Groupe Octobre.

 1934 Signatory to Appel a la Lutte against the rise in fascism.

 1935 Writes the dialogue for Jean Renoir's "Crime de Monsieur Lange". 
    He breaks up with Simone.

 1936 meets Jacqueline Laurent, See (photo ->); and also (bio ->) and 
   travels with her to the Balearic Islands. 
   End of October Group. 
   Distances himself from the Communist party.

 1938 Visits America.

 1939 Writes screenplay for Le Jour Se Lève ->.

 1940 April; Witness to marriage of Leo Malet and Paulette Doucet.
   Leaves Paris and moves to St Paul de Vence with Claudy Carter.
   Works on clandestine films with Joseph Kosma -> and Alexandre Trauner ->.

 1943 Falls in love with Janine Loris and remarries.

 1946 Birth of daughter Michele.

 1948 Serious accident. Unconscious for several days.
   Satrap in the College of Pataphysics.

 1952 Visits England.

 1953 His dog becomes a Satrap in the College of Pataphysics.

 1955 Returns to live in Paris.

 1956? Publishes a composition for Joan Miro.
