    Closely associated with, but never joined the Surrealists remaining one 
    of their major inspirations.
    He founded the Scuola Metafisica art movement.

 1890 In Athens; birth of his brother Andrea who adopted the pseudonym of 
    Alberto Savinio in his work as a writer and musician.

 1900 Began studies at the Athens Polytechnic Institute; continued in Florence.

 1906 Moved to Germany in  and entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. 

 1909 Returned to Italy in the summer and spent six months in Milan. 

 ==1910's==
 1910 Moved to Florence where he painted the first of his 'Metaphysical Town Square' 
    series, The Enigma of an Autumn Afternoon & The Enigma of the Oracle.

 1911 July; Spent a few days in Turin on his way to Paris, where he joined 
    his brother Andrea through whom he met Pierre Laprade?, a member of the 
    jury at the Salon d'Automne. 

    The Return of the Poet. 
 1913 Exhibited at the Salon des Independants and Salon d´Automne. 
    His work was noticed by Pablo Picasso and Guillaume Apollinaire.
    He met Constantin Brancusi, Andre Derain, Max Jacob, Georges Braque,     
    Fernand Leger and Ardengo Soffici. 

 1914 Through Guillaume Apollinaire, he met the art dealer Paul Guillaume?. 
    At the outbreak of the First World War, he returned to Italy.  

 1915 Enlisted in the Italian army, but he was considered unfit for work and 
    assigned to the hospital at Ferrara.

 1916 Met Filippo de Pisis? enters into Pittura metafisica period.
    The Amusements of a Young Girl and
    The Disquieting Muses -> 
 1917 Met Carlo Carra and formed the group that was later 
    called the Scuola Metafisica.

 1918 Transferred to Rome. First solo exhibition at the Casa d´Arte Bragaglia.

 1919 Published The Return of Craftsmanship in Valori Plastici; of which 
    he was one of the leaders and with whom he showed at the National Galerie 
    in Berlin.

 1921 Exhibited solo in Milan.

 1922 In At The Rendezvous of Friends by Max Ernst.

 1923 Paul Eluard visited de Chirico in Rome.

 1924 Met and married his first wife, the Russian Ballerina Raissa Gurievich Krol. 
    Nov. visits Paris; Photographed with Jacques Baron, Raymond Queneau, 
    Andre Breton, Jacques-Andre Boiffard, Roger Vitrac,     Paul Eluard, 
    Philippe Soupault, Robert Desnos,Louis Aragon, Pierre Naville, 
    Simone Collinet-Breton, Max Morise and Marie-Louise Soupault.

 1925 Moves to Paris.
    Illustrated for Antonin Artaud. Met Henri Michaux
    Contributes to the collaboration between Paul Eluard and Max Ernst 
    Au Defaut du silence a hommage to Gala.
    One edition had manuscripts by Gala and Rene Crevel and original drawings 
    by Max Ernst and  de Chirico.

 1928 Held his first exhibition in New York City and shortly afterwards, London. 

 1929 Published an autobiographical novel  Hebdomeros, the Metaphysician.
    de Chirico designed scenery and costumes for Sergei Diaghilev's production 
    of the ballet Le Bal and his book Hebdomeros was published. 
    Meets and influences the young Leonor Fini who exhibits alongside him in Milan.

 ==1930's==
 1930 de Chirico met his second wife, Isabella Pakszwer Far, a Russian, 
    with whom he would remain for the rest of his life. 

 1937 Nov. Praises Leonor Fini in the catalogue of her joint show with 
    Max Ernst at the Julien Levy Gallery in New York.

 1932 Moved to Italy.

 1944 Settling in Rome.

 ==Post War==
 1974? Elected to the French Academie des Beaux-Arts.

 1978? d. Nov. 20th. in Rome.
