   Belgian Writer and Art Patron
   An important promoter of surrealism in both Belgium and Paris.

 1923 Meets Rene Magritte.

 1925 Meets Andre Breton on his visit to Belgium.

 1926 A Surrealist group in Belgium forms; Camille Goemans, Rene Magritte, Paul Nouge, 
   Edouard Mesens, and, a bit later Marcel Marien, then joined by two musicians, Paul Hooreman 
   and Andre Souris ->.
   His Paris neighbors were Max Ernst, Jean Arp, Joan Miro and probably Paul Eluard.

 1927 Signs Manifesto Hands Off Love in defense of Charlie Chaplin.

 1929 Signed the second Surrealist Manifesto.
   Visits Salvador Dali in the summer in Cadaques. With him were Rene Magritte 
   and his wife Georgette, Luis Bunuel, Paul Eluard and Gala, and the 
   coupleĀ€'s daughter Cecile.
   Organized an exhibition of Collage in Paris with Louis Aragon writing the preface
   At one time he had Jean Arp, Yves Tanguy and Rene Magritte under contract.
   First exhibited Max Ernst Histoire Naturelle in Belgium.

 1942 His companion Lou Cosyn started a gallery becoming Rene Magritte's main dealer.

 1953 photographed (seated) with Marcel Marien, Gerard Van Bruaene, Irene Hamoir, 
   Georgette Magritte, E.L.T. Mesens, Louis Scutenaire, 
   Rene Magritte and Paul Colinet. 
 1960 d. June 4th. Brussels.
