  1909 Dec 24th. b. in Copenhagen; Vilhelm Bjerke Petersen.
   Son of the art historian and museum director Carl V. Petersen.
   Danish Painter and Writer.

  1929 Studies at the Kunstakademi in Oslo.

  1930 - 1931 he studied with Paul Klee, Vasily Kandinsky and Oskar Schlemmer at the Bauhaus in Dessau.

  1933 Founder-member of the Danish artists' group Linien -> and he edited the group's journal of the same name.
    Together with Elsa Thoresen,  Ejler Bille, Richard Mortensen and Rita Kernn-Larsen
    Published Symboler in abstract artt in Copenhagen.

  1934 Organized first Linien exhibition.

  1936 Involved in meetings to plan the London International Surrealist Exhibition.

  1937 Moved to Paris, exhibited in Surrealist exhibition.

  1943 Traveled illegally to Sweden.

  1946 Visited New York.

  1949 Founded the Modern Art School in Stockholm.

  1953 m. Eva-Lisa Lennartsson, in Stockholm. 
    Decorated the city library, in Halmstad.
